# Connect TikTok

## What you need

- A TikTok account you can log in to.
- A video or photos for every post. TikTok posts cannot be text only.

## Connect your account

1. In the left menu, click **Connected Accounts**.
2. Under **Add a channel**, find **TikTok** and click **Connect**.
3. TikTok opens. Log in to the account you want to post to.
4. TikTok lists what Schedule & Chill asks for: reading your profile and publishing posts. Allow it.
5. You come back and see **TikTok account connected successfully**.

TikTok connections renew by themselves. You do not need to reconnect unless you remove access in your TikTok account.

## Post to TikTok

1. Click **Create Post** and select your TikTok account.
2. Add **one video**, or **1 to 35 photos**. You cannot mix photos and a video in one post.
3. Write your caption, up to 2,200 characters. On a photo post, the first 90 characters become the photo title.
4. Fill in the **Post to TikTok** panel, then publish or schedule.

| Setting | What it does | Default |

| **Who can view this video** | **Everyone**, **Friends**, **Followers** or **Only me**. You only see the options your TikTok account allows. | None. You must choose. |
| **Allow users to** | **Comment**, **Duet** and **Stitch**. Duet and Stitch are not shown on photo posts. | All off |
| **Disclose video content** | Turn on if the post promotes yourself, a brand, a product or a service. | Off |
| **Your brand** | You promote yourself or your own business. TikTok labels the post **Promotional content**. | Off |
| **Branded content** | You promote another brand or a third party. TikTok labels the post **Paid partnership**. | Off |

Good to know:

- If you turned off comments, Duet or Stitch in your TikTok settings, that box is locked here too.
- **Branded content** cannot be set to **Only me**. TikTok does not allow it.
- Your video must not be longer than your TikTok account allows. The panel warns you before you post.
- TikTok posts need their own settings, so you cannot add TikTok in [bulk compose](/help/posts/bulk-compose). Use **Create Post**.
- After publishing, a post can take a few minutes to appear on your TikTok profile.
- You can publish up to **25 TikTok posts per day**.

## Analytics

TikTok reports views, likes, comments and shares. It does not report impressions or reach, so there is no engagement rate for TikTok posts. Posts set to **Only me** get no analytics.

## If something goes wrong

| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| **Who can view this is required.** | Choose an option under **Who can view this video**. |
| **You need to indicate if your content promotes yourself, a third party, or both.** | You turned on **Disclose video content**. Tick **Your brand**, **Branded content**, or both. |
| **Branded content visibility cannot be set to private.** | Choose a viewer option other than **Only me**. |
| **TikTok publish failed: file_format_check_failed …** | Export the video as MP4, MOV or WEBM (H.264 or H.265), between 3 seconds and 10 minutes, under 4 GB. |
| **TikTok publish failed: duration_check_failed …** | The video is shorter than 3 seconds or longer than TikTok allows. Trim it and retry. |
| **TikTok will not accept more posts for this account right now.** | TikTok is limiting this account. Wait and retry later. |
| **TikTok never confirmed this upload …** | The post may still be live. Check your TikTok profile before you retry. |
| **Daily tiktok publishing limit reached …** | You hit the daily limit. The post waits in **Needs attention** — retry it the next day. |
| **TikTok connection expired** in the panel | Click **Reconnect TikTok**. See [Reconnect or disconnect a channel](/help/channels/fix-or-disconnect). |
